Tyler Klimas is the founder and principal of Leaf Street Strategies, a leading consulting firm specializing in cannabis and hemp policy. He previously served as Nevada’s first chief cannabis regulator, overseeing the state’s transition into a billion-dollar medical and adult-use cannabis market. Appointed as the inaugural Executive Director of the Nevada Cannabis Compliance Board, Klimas was instrumental in designing and launching the agency, drawing on regulatory principles from Nevada’s globally recognized gaming model.

Klimas also co-founded and served as president of the Cannabis Regulators Association (CANNRA), a nonprofit network representing cannabis regulators across the U.S., Canada, and Europe. Under his leadership, CANNRA significantly expanded its national presence, driving coordinated engagement with Congress and key federal agencies on cannabis and hemp policy.

Prior to his regulatory work, Klimas was a federal lobbyist in Washington, D.C., where he led bipartisan coalition-building and advocacy strategies for both public and private sector clients. He began his career in political campaigns and has held senior roles advising elected officials on policy, communications, and government affairs.
