Description

Jeena Cho will cover resilience, work/life integration, and wellness in the workplace. Her area of expertise includes women’s issues, diversity, wellness, productivity, mindfulness, and meditation. Richard Carlton will be covering substance abuse and depression disorders. He will dive into the relation between practicing law and the mentality necessary to "succeed" at practicing law.

General

This program is eligible for 1 hours of General CLE credit in 60-minute states, and 1.2 hours of General CLE credit in 50-minute states. Credit hours are estimated and are subject to each state’s approval and credit rounding rules. 

INCBA webinars are generally eligible for credit in the following states: AR, AL, CA, CO, GA, HI, IL, NJ, NM, NY, ND, PA, TX, VT. Additional states may be available for credit upon self-application by attendees. States typically decide whether a program qualifies for MCLE credit in their jurisdiction 4-8 weeks after the program application is submitted. Coping Skills for Legal Professionals


Richard Carlton is the former Director of the Lawyer Assistance Program of the State Bar of California.  He is currently a Principal Consultant for the firm Coping Skills for Legal Professionals.  Additionally, he is a consultant to the US Courts for the Ninth Circuit, the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges, and to the Idaho Judicial Branch on matters of judicial stress and wellness.  

 

Mr. Carlton regularly delivers continuing legal education presentations to local bar associations, specialty bars, State Bar sections, and law firms throughout California on addressing substance abuse and managing stress.  His articles have appeared in Judicature, The Judges Journal of the ABA, California Bar Journal, and other legal publications.  He has been addressing mental health and disability concerns in the legal profession for nearly thirty years.  Richard holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health from UC Berkeley, where his studies focused on treatment interventions and behavioral science research.
