Michael Petrizzo brings nearly 30 years of experience to his work guiding clients through mergers and acquisitions, financing transactions, and corporate formations, reorganizations and restructurings. Public and private companies, private equity and venture capital firms, and high-net-worth individuals rely on him to provide strategic advice in these and other key deals, as well in general corporate and commercial matters affecting their daily operations. Some of his specific experience includes advising on IPOs, as well as both M&A deals and capital-raising market transactions involving assets and equity, and joint ventures. He also represents companies that are selling or purchasing assets as part of a bankruptcy proceeding (363 transactions).
Michael advises a broad range of industries, including financial services, health care, retail, construction, insurance, manufacturing and technology in these complex commercial transactions. He also serves as outside corporate counsel for early-stage and established enterprises.
Michael’s work as a corporate attorney is informed by educational credentials that include an M.B.A. in Finance and Marketing and an LL.M. in Taxation, both from New York University, along with previous experience working as assistant general counsel for a subsidiary of a publicly traded insurance and reinsurance company and the general counsel for a publicly traded insurance broker. Because of his time working in-house, Michael has an appreciation for the importance of taking time to understand clients’ financial and operational goals and how these factor into transactions. He also has extensive experience with reading financial statements and views them as the starting point of the due diligence process in deals and a strong snapshot of what matters to clients.
